Compound monograph — Noopept (with Choline Chloride)

Noopept (with Choline Chloride) combines two compounds in one solution. Noopept (omberacetam, GVS-111) is N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester, a dipeptide designed as an analog of piracetam; choline chloride is a salt of choline, the precursor used for acetylcholine synthesis. Noopept research covers hippocampal NGF and BDNF expression, amyloid-beta toxicity in PC12 cells and HIF-1 activity, and one rat study delivered it intranasally with forskolin. Research Market supplies this Noopept spray in a spray bottle with a lot-specific certificate of analysis. It is sold strictly for laboratory research use.

Components

  • Noopept (omberacetam): CAS 157115-85-0 · C17H22N2O4 · 318.4 g/mol · PubChem CID 180496
  • Choline chloride: CAS 67-48-1 · C5H14ClNO · 139.62 g/mol · PubChem CID 6209
  • Form: Supplied in solution in a spray bottle
  • Analytical methods: RP-HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity, reported on the batch certificate of analysis

Research applications

  • Neurotrophin expression: In rats, single and 28-day Noopept treatment increased NGF and BDNF mRNA in the hippocampus, and chronic treatment showed no tolerance [1]
  • Amyloid-beta cell model: Pretreating PC12 cells with Noopept before Aβ25-35 exposure improved viability, lowered reactive oxygen species and intracellular calcium, and reduced tau phosphorylation at Ser396 [2]
  • HIF-1 signaling: In SH-SY5Y cells, Noopept increased basal and hypoxia-mimetic-induced HIF-1 DNA-binding activity, with reporter data pointing to inhibition of HIF-1 prolyl hydroxylase [3]
  • Intranasal formulation: An intranasal formulation of forskolin and Noopept was studied in PINK1 knockout rats, where it was associated with fewer motor deficits, less loss of midbrain dopamine neurons and higher brain BDNF and NGF [4]
  • Choline and acetylcholine release: Microdialysis in awake rats showed that raising choline availability, by acute choline chloride or dietary choline, increased the peak and duration of atropine-evoked acetylcholine release in the hippocampus [5]
