Compound monograph — Chonluten

Chonluten is sold as the synthetic tripeptide Glu-Asp-Gly (EDG), which PubChem also lists under the code T-34. Khavinson-group authors describe Chonluten as derived from bronchial epithelium. The indexed literature is small: a 2022 study of inflammatory signaling in human THP-1 monocytes, a gene expression paper on T-34, and a docking study of peptide transporters. Research Market supplies the Chonluten peptide as a lyophilized research reagent, with purity and identity data for each lot reported on its certificate of analysis. It is sold strictly for laboratory research use.

Chemical structure and identification

  • Molecular formula: C11H17N3O8
  • Molecular weight: 319.27 g/mol
  • CAS number: 75007-24-8
  • PubChem CID: 194641
  • Amino acid sequence: Glu-Asp-Gly (EDG)
  • Synonyms: T-34 tripeptide; L-glutamyl-L-aspartyl-glycine; H-Glu-Asp-Gly-OH
  • Form: Lyophilized powder
  • Analytical methods: RP-HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity, reported on the batch certificate of analysis

Research applications

  • Monocyte TNF response: In human THP-1 monocytes exposed to bacterial LPS, Chonluten inhibited TNF production; with four other short peptides it also reduced IL-6 and monocyte adhesion to activated endothelial cells [1]
  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory genes: Peptide T-34 was reported to regulate mRNA expression of genes encoding antioxidant and anti-inflammatory proteins, studied in the context of gastric ulcer [2]
  • Peptide transporters: In docking against LAT1, LAT2 and PEPT1, EDG ranked among the most effective transporter ligands; the authors proposed transporter inhibition as one possible basis for antitumor effects reported for EDG [3]
