Specification

Compound monograph — Vesilute

Vesilute is sold as the dipeptide L-alpha-glutamyl-L-aspartic acid (Glu-Asp, ED), the smallest and most acidic peptide in this bioregulator range. Indexed research on ED itself is limited. A 2023 docking study ranked it among the strongest ligands of the LAT1, LAT2 and PEPT1 transporters, and a physical chemistry study measured its calcium binding. Researchers working with the Vesilute peptide should regard it as a lightly characterized compound. Research Market supplies it as a lyophilized research reagent, with purity and identity data for each lot reported on its certificate of analysis. It is sold strictly for laboratory research use.

Chemical structure and identification

  • Molecular formula: C9H14N2O7
  • Molecular weight: 262.22 g/mol
  • CAS number: 3918-84-1
  • PubChem CID: 99716
  • Amino acid sequence: Glu-Asp (ED)
  • Synonyms: alpha-L-Glu-L-Asp; L-glutamyl-L-aspartic acid; H-Glu-Asp-OH
  • Form: Lyophilized powder
  • Analytical methods: RP-HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity, reported on the batch certificate of analysis

Research applications

  • Peptide transporters: In docking of 26 bioactive ultrashort peptides against LAT1, LAT2 and PEPT1, ED was one of the peptides with an N-terminal acidic residue that ranked as the most effective transporter ligands [1]
  • Calcium binding: Calcium-selective electrode measurements at 25 °C and ionic strength 0.20 gave Glu-Asp a binding constant of 22.7 L/mol, close to the additive value of its two amino acids [2]
