Compound monograph — B12 + GLP1 S

B12 + GLP1 S combines two research materials in one vial: vitamin B12 (cobalamin), the cobalt-containing cofactor of methionine synthase and methylmalonyl-CoA mutase, and GLP1 S, a synthetic GLP-1 receptor agonist peptide analog. The two act through unrelated pathways, B12 in one-carbon and mitochondrial amino acid metabolism and GLP1 S at the GLP-1 receptor, a class B G protein-coupled receptor. The literature below covers each component separately; no study of the combination is cited. Research Market supplies the B12 + GLP1 S blend with identity and purity data for each lot reported on its certificate of analysis. It is sold strictly for laboratory research use.

Components

  • GLP1 S: GLP-1 receptor agonist peptide analog; CAS 910463-68-2; C187H291N45O59; 4114 g/mol; PubChem CID 56843331
  • Vitamin B12 (cobalamin): cobalt-containing corrinoid vitamin; the cobalamin form is not specified in the product listing and is reported on the batch certificate of analysis
  • Form: Lyophilized powder
  • Analytical methods: RP-HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity, reported on the batch certificate of analysis

Research applications

  • Incretin physiology: GLP-1 is released from intestinal L-cells after meals and is rapidly inactivated by dipeptidyl peptidase IV; its reviewed actions include stimulation of insulin secretion, inhibition of glucagon secretion and slowing of gastrointestinal motility [1]
  • GLP-1 receptor structure: Cryo-EM of the peptide-activated GLP-1 receptor–Gs complex showed how the peptide sits between the receptor’s N-terminal domain and transmembrane core [2]
  • GLP-1 receptor circuits: Reviewed for the receptor-positive cell types and pathways that relay GLP-1 signals to islet function, appetite, inflammation and cardiovascular physiology [3]
  • Cobalamin cofactor biochemistry: Cobalamin serves as adenosyl-cobalamin for mitochondrial methylmalonyl-CoA mutase and as methyl-cobalamin for methionine synthase, which remethylates homocysteine to methionine and links B12 to S-adenosylmethionine production and folate one-carbon metabolism [4]
